It looks like BMW’s really are the hot topic at the moment when it comes to Facebook giveaways.
This particular giveaway comes from a page named BMW Family. The Facebook BMW M3 giveaway currently appears under 2 different posts as below:
“We are giving 3 BMW M3 On April 7,2014

Step 2: |Comment wich color you want|

It’s incredible to think that these posts have already been shared over 25,000 times and this keeps growing by the hour. All these people adding to the likes on this page, all for the chance to win a non-existent prize.
Some of our readers have asked us how we know such pages/posts are really scams and are not genuine. This time we thought we’d post a little bit more information on how to spot a fake Facebook giveaway. So, first of all, lets take a look at how old this Facebook page is:
So, as we can see, this page was set up very recently, on the 19th March 2014. Is it likely that a company who have only just setup on Facebook would suddenly be giving away 3 cars costing upwards of £50,000? It’s highly unlikely isn’t it.
Now lets take a look at the history for one of these Facebook car giveaway posts:
OK, so look at that. Originally, when this post was first created, the winners were going to be announced on the 22nd March. Yet this post has now been edited so the date is in the future. No mention of any winners. In addition to this, the actual post itself is in violation of the Facebook rule E3 which clearly states:
“Personal Timelines must not be used to administer promotions (ex: “share on your Timeline to enter” or “share on your friend’s Timeline to get additional entries” is not permitted).”
It’s obvious that this is just another like farm page purely designed to generate likes with the promise of the chance to win a non-existent prize.
Please be sure to share this page with your friends to spread the awareness.
